Review: Love Uncovered by Laura Barnard

Love UncoveredIndependent woman to her core, Brooke Archer has always been happy to hit it and quit it with the men in her life. But when her beloved Nan suffers from poor health, Brooke realises just how precious life is and decides it’s time to face her daddy issues and seek out her estranged father. Without so much as a name or photo, and a cagey Mum withholding vital information, it’s going to be no easy task.

Nicholas Parker is a relationship guy and always has been. Abandoned by his mum when he was seven he craves love and security. But finding a woman who can conquer his trust issues is no easy feat. Brooke is exactly the kind of woman he doesn’t need.

Pulled together by some invisible force, can Brooke and Nicholas overcome their differences to uncover true love?

Claire's Review 5 of 5 Stars

This is the second book in the Babes of Brighton series but can be read as a standalone, and if you have read the first book Excess Baggage, you will be already familiar with the characters, although not a problem if you haven't.

This book sees the story in the point of view of Brooke. Brooke is loud, sassy and in your face, but in this story, we get to see a totally different side to her and see that under all the bravado, she is quite a vulnerable person with a lot of her mind.

Along comes Nicholas, who Brooke met on Luna Island in Excess Baggage, however, she never really paid him much attention as she was too busy spending the holiday 'shagging' Tom. Fast forward and the group meets up and even though Nicholas thinks Brooke is better off without him, the pair are drawn to each other and you can't help but hope that they both find their happiness as they have both had a lot to deal with in their lives.

So it's no big surprise now that I absolutely adore Laura's books! Her writing style is brilliantly addictive and her books are so funny! It's a very rare occurrence for me to actually laugh out loud when reading but with Laura's books I do and Love Uncovered is no exception. Brooke is such a funny character; I don't think I could be friends with her in a real-life scenario but in the pages of the book I absolutely love her! This book has it all, laughter, love and moments where you just want to reach into the pages to give the characters a hug!

I honestly cannot recommend this series enough, and I cannot wait to see whats in store for the next book!
