Review: Excess All Areas by Mandy Baggot

Excess All Areas (Freya Johnson 1)
When the going gets tough Freya Johnson gets going! Humiliated by her boyfriend the day she turns thirty, Freya boards a last minute flight to Corfu to visit her best friend Emma. Little does she know - this holiday will change her life forever.
Enter Hollywood film star Nicholas Kaden whose entourage is stirring up the village of Kassiopi while filming his new movie. He's hot, he's unexpectedly different, but is he for real?
Caught up in a media frenzy, feeling unwelcome and uncomfortable in Nicholas' movie world, Freya battles with the ghosts of her past and the uncertainty of her future.
Can she help Emma, keep her own big secret and find out what Nicholas is hiding, before she feels the urge to run away again?

Shona's review 5 of 5 stars

This is not my first time reading a book written by Baggot, and every time I pick up one of her books I am reminded why I am a fan of her work. From the very first pages you feel like you know her main characters, I have yet to read a female lead in one of her books that I haven't liked. They draw you in to their story, making it entirely possible to experience their tale as though it was happening to you, and this book is no exception.

One of my favourite things about this book is that Freya isn't your usual main lead, she isn't a size 10. She's a 20. And whilst she may have her moments when she doesn't feel like she deserves to be happy, whilst she may not always be happy with her size, she doesn't feel the need to suddenly become thinner to be happy or to get the man of her dreams as is usually the case with books that have larger main characters. Her size is not a flaw. And if she ever thought it might be, the hunky Nicholas is there to convince her otherwise.

My other favourite thing about this book? There's a sequel! So excuse me while i rush off to dive straight in.
