Review: Sing

Sing
Sing by Vivi Greene
Synopsis

America’s most famous pop star flees the spotlight to recover from her latest break-up in Maine—only to fall for a local boy and be faced with an impossible choice at the end of the summer: her new guy, or her music.

Multiplatinum pop icon Lily Ross’s biggest hits and biggest heartbreaks (because they are one and the same):

1. AGONY. (That feeling when her ex ripped her heart out of her chest and she never saw it coming.)
2. GHOSTS. (Because even famous people are ghosted by guys sometimes. And it sucks just as much.)
3. ONCE BITTEN. (As in: twice shy. Also, she’s never dating an actor or a musician ever again.)

But this summer’s going to be different. After getting her heart shattered, Lily is taking herself out of the spotlight and heading to a small island in middle-of-nowhere Maine with her closest friends. She has three months until her fall tour starts-three months to focus on herself, her music, her new album. Anything but guys.

That is . . . until Lily meets sweet, down-to-earth local Noel Bradley, who is so different from anyone she’s ever dated. Suddenly, Lily’s “summer of me” takes an unexpected turn, and she finds herself falling deeper and harder than ever before. But Noel isn’t interested in the limelight. She loves Noel-but she loves her fans, too. And come August, she may be forced to choose.

Lisas Review - 5 out of 5 stars

Sing is such an easy to read, sweet and enjoyable book that anyone of any age will enjoy reading. Fro Harper Collins children books, I have no problem holding my hand up and admitting that at 32 years old, I enjoyed it so much it took me less than 24 hours to finish as I couldn't put it down!

Lily Ross is a world famous singer, her music inspired by her relationships. Lily is about to go on tour and release her new album,  an album filled with love songs about her boyfriend and their relationship, when out of the blue, he dumps her, ending their relationship and breaking Lilys heart. In a desperate bid to cheer Lily up, her best friends take her away for the summer, and Lily tries to pick up the pieces and reconnect with nature in a bid to rewrite her album before the summer ends. What she doesn't expect is to meet Noel, who is the opposite of anyone she has ever met before, and turns her world around.

It is extremely difficult to write a review on Sing without pointing out that there are so many similarities between Lily and a certain Taylor Swift that it makes it difficult to imagine Lily any other way. Not only are there so many written comparisons between the two but the cover of Sing also made me think of Miss Swift. I thought this might throw up some concerns while I was reading it but in fact it made the book slightly more realistic to read, and never bothered me once.
It is a lovely story, and so easy to read and very enjoyable. I have a 13 year old daughter who I would pass this book on to as well as recommending it to friends my own age too. I look forward to reading more from the author.
